About Tafl: viking chess
Tafl: viking chess is a Scandinavian strategy board game rooted in medieval play. One side controls black attacking pieces and the other white defending pieces, with the king at the center of the struggle. Black moves first, then turns alternate.
Different rule variants change the board size, the king's escape goal, the number of sides needed to surround him, and the balance of pieces. You can face artificial intelligence, play another person on one device, or meet an online opponent.
How to Play Tafl: viking chess
Click or tap a piece, then choose a legal destination on the board.
Move pieces vertically or horizontally across available spaces.
Remember that the black attackers take the opening move.
Try to bring the king to an edge or corner when that variant uses the escape objective.
Select an AI, local, or online opponent when that play option is available.
