Shadow Boy follows Ignatius, a bored boy pulled from ordinary life into a surreal film world by the mysterious director Vigo. The adventure unfolds in a black-and-white setting influenced by silent cinema, noir, vintage art deco, hand drawing, and steampunk design. Moody music and unusual locations add atmosphere to his search for a way out.

This puzzle-platformer mixes logical obstacles with arcade challenges, strange creatures, and boss encounters. As Ignatius travels, he can find book fragments that reveal more about his opponent and the events shaping the story. The game also includes two control types, varied maps, and the ability to save anywhere, giving the journey both exploration and narrative discovery.
